A Study on Development of Adolescent Suicide Prevention Manual for Improving Recognition and Behavior of Adolescents on Love for Life and Verification of its Effectiveness

Abstract

|
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to develop the adolescent suicide prevention manual for improving recognition and behavior of adolescents on love for life, and to verify its effectiveness.
Method : This study selected 189 middle school students from middle schools in Gyeonggi-do, and ran a 45-minute program twice for classes with 30~50 students. It also performed a paired t-test to analyze how much the adolescent suicide prevention education effected on the recognition and behavior of adolescent on love for life.
Result : Through performing sample t-tests before and after ‘the Life Loving Teen Teen Class’, a adolescent suicide prevention program, this study proved that the participants showed statistically meaningful differences.
Conclusion : This study proposed a adolescent suicide prevention manual on the bases which could actually be used in schools, and verified the effectiveness of the program. It is necessary to set a control group and to collect more parameters for verifying the effectiveness of ‘the Life Loving Teen Teen Class’ manual more detailedly.
